We have a five licence version of PM4.

Our leader e-mailed me a copy of a playlist, and I tried to import it. It would get to the "do you want to clear the existing playlist" dialogue box, but on clicking yes, it just went back to the exisitng playlist.

I noticed one song on the playlist was missing from my version of PM4, so I had him e-mail a PMzip of the song. I imported it fine and tried importing the Playlist again.

Now it opens, but with only one song - the missing one (now there of course!!)

Last week it was similar - the playlist had only one song of the six that were on it originally.

Any thoughts??

Neil.

We will look into this, Neil.
One reason for the mix-up could be that PM4 recognises songs differently from PM3. When a song is imported to PM4 it is given a unique 'GUID' and this is used to identify the song on a playlist. If your users all imported from PM3 into PM4 then the guids will be different so importing playlists will cause PM4 to not recognise the songs.
The best way to solve this is to have a 'master' database, then make sure each user gets a copy of this to use from now on and then playlists will be able to be shared. PMzips are the best way to share new songs because the correct GUID will be transferred.

We're going to rationalise the databases held on each PM4 instance, so I was going to export mine as the master, for our worship leader James to import it to his. This of course will mean James deleting all the existing songs in his database so they can all be imported new from mine.

But ... is there an easy way to delete all songs?? Or will it have to be one by one??

Cheers

N.

Hi Neil
The best way to do this is for you to create your PM4 master, then perform a backup (File - Backup) from PM4 of the master. Then the others should do a 'Restore' from that into their PM4.
Then all your songs will be synchronised, and any new ones you create in PM4 can be exported/imported between each other correctly and the playlist exports will work too.
I hope that helps.
