Updates to Power Music 4 will be announced here.

Make sure you always have the current version of Power Music. If you are connected to the internet when you run Power Music you will be prompted to install the update.
If you are not connected to the internet or skip this step you can download the installation from cambronsoftware.co.uk/products/software/...-music/download.html
(the trial version is always the current version)

An update to Power Music 4 has been released today 8th December 2011.

Changes to the Playlist Songsheet print: there are now three options when printing a songsheet:

1. Lyrics (double column) - this was the only option in previous versions
2. Lyrics (single column) - this will start a new page for each song on the playlist and print in a single column
3. Chord sheets - this will print every chord sheet (if available) for each song on the playlist, regardless of whether the display is set to Music or not. This is a huge time-saver if you print chord sheets for your band. It has the same effect as displaying chords and clicking 'Print' from the main toolbar for every song on the playlist.

Other changes:
Updated database component giving faster access.
Redundant menu items tidied up.
New installer for the stand-alone download for new installations removes the need to download Crystal Reports from the Business Objects website if not installed already - this is now included in the download.

Update released today 13th December 2011.

• Fixed background chord sheet colours when toggling playlist in Full Screen mode.
• Added "*" and "-" to allowable characters in chord lines.
• Annotations - you no longer need to click outside a textbox or sticky note before saving.

I have a piece of music that is sideways. I can rotate it using the right click rotation option but it won't save it this way so I can't use that very effectively in a playlist. Have I missed something?

The easiest way to do this is:
Go to Edit song.
Find the page that is sideways (sheet music).
Note the name of the file (you may have to 'drag' the splitter to see the complete file name.
Now come out of Edit song and close down Power Music.
Browse to the location of the images (usually your [documents]\Cambron Software\PowerMusic4\Pics).
Find the file and rotate the actual image using your image viewer. Even Windows Photo viewer will do - right click to rotate.
Now when you use the song in Power Music it will be the correct orientation.
When you import to a new song you can do the rotation in the scanning screen. We will add a 'rotate' option in the song editor for the next update.

Update released today 10th January 2012

• Font - bold/regular option in Tools>Settings. When Power Music was originally created display screens were not as clear as today and the chord sheet font automatically defaulted to BOLD. With smaller tablets and clearer screens this has been changed to REGULAR. If you preferred using bold then you can change this back in the settings window.
• *NEW* for portrait mode - the 'All songs' (select song) screen will now move the playlist and song select to the top of the screen if the window is changed to portrait mode. This makes for a much smoother and easier experience for tablet/MusicOne users.
• Version history link added to the Help menu.
• VendorID added for reseller downloads.
• *NEW* buttons in the Full Screen playlist sidebar toolbar for transposing chord sheets to avoid using the keyboard for +/-. These buttons will transpose chords up or down a semitone.
• *NEW* menu items in the Full Screen menu (tap or click bottom left) to transpose chord sheets.

New version released today 18th January.
Yesterday Power Music Lite www.cambronsoftware.co.uk/products/softw...ower-music-lite.html was released. This is the free version of Power Music 4 which can be used with PMzips. The changes to Power Music 4 are as follows:

1. When a License key is entered in the unlicensed version, Power Music now checks for the existence of Power Music Lite and other databases on your computer and offers a prompt to import your songs. This means that if Power Music Lite is used and populated with lots of music it is very easy to move over to the full version of Power Music 4.
2. Several updates to the PMzip export feature.
3. Added sharp and flat images to the new buttons in the playlist sidebar.

Update released today:
Bug fix - under certain circumstances if a page of sheet music was added as an existing image from the pics folder and the same image was then used in several other pages then annotations could not be saved to that particular page.

Update released today 7th February 2012:

*NEW* Change to the Search option - if you want to force a search after typing less than the required 5 characters then just press Enter.

Also in this version - correction to an issue with pixelated chords which only happened after a particular sequence of events.

Update released today 14th February 2012:

In the chord sheet editor when you insert a chord using the list or the insert button, the scroll position is now kept. Previously it was scrolling the page to the cursor position, making the text 'jump' to the bottom.

PMzips import from CD-ROMs was causing an error due to being read-only. This has also been corrected.

Update V.4.0.3.0 released today 9th March 2012.

Chages to 'Saved Playlists' tab:
New button on saved playlist toolbar to 'preview' a saved playlist without opening it. This opens a window with a list of the songs on the saved playlist. There is an option to add one of the songs to the current playlist, or to open this playlist.
Fixed issue where re-ordering songs on playlist did not register as a change so did not prompt to save when exiting or printing songsheet.

Lots of changes to the Sheet Music Editor:

In the list of pages, the display is Page 1, Page 2 etc instead of file names. The file name of a selected page is displayed at the bottom of the list for reference.
This change has also been applied to the Scanning screen.

Import from PDF - addition of a list of imported pages similar to the scanning screen.
This is to allow selection of different areas of a PDF page without having to return to the editor each time the selection is saved. This means you can select the top half of a page, click 'Add selection', then select the bottom half of the page and click 'Add selection again, and so on. This is a good way to split pages and magnify for the visually impaired. If the section does not display large enough then increase the DPI and use 'Preview' to check. This change also means you don't have to reload the pdf file each time to import different sections. Once complete, press the top left button to return the saved page imports to the editor.

New Toolbar above the sheet music pages list. The buttons 'Delete', 'Move up' and 'Move down' have been moved here and 2 new buttons have been added:

'Duplicate Page' and 'Modify Page'.

These options have also been added to a context menu for pages (right-click).

Duplicate creates an exact copy of the selected page and appends it to the list. This is really useful for repeats - for example Page 1, Page 2, Page 3 then Page 1 again (added as Page 4).

Modify opens a basic image editor with features similar to the scanner features:
Brightness, contrast, crop, rotate and the very useful 'Auto-deskew' feature which will attempt to straighten a page of music which has perhaps been scanned slightly off the horizontal.

These are major changes which give a huge improvement to the manipulation of sheet music.

To Carnebone1 regarding your question about sideways music:

The latest release of Power Music v.4.0.3.0 will let you rotate your music and save it in the editor using the new 'Modify' feature.

New features:

Annotation Links - added Browse button to link to file on hard drive

Sheet music display (Tools - Settings):
Option to always expand music proportionally to fit screen (this may result in small res images appearing blurred). The default is to display 100% if smaller than the screen (original resolution).

Background colours (Tools - Settings):
Option to apply colour to sheet music. White will become transparent, taking on the colour of the background. If music has been scanned and is off-white it may not work, but you can modify the brightness of the page using the recently added 'Modify' button. This feature works better with lighter colours.

Added Author Maintenance and tidied up Category Maintenance. You can now edit an author name if you have entered it wrongly.

Changed the tutorials link to the new Help Centre:

The tutorials and one-minute-guides have been replaced by over 20 help videos. Please let us know if you find the new Help Centre 'Helpful'.

New version released today May 18th 2012 to integrate with Power Music Box:

This version give a new button on the toolbar for 'My Box'. If you have a subscription account on Power Music Box you can upload your songs to your private account and download to other devices. You can also download to your iPad/iPhone if you have one using our new Power Music App

This is a major new feature in Power Music. The PM4 update is free and the app is free, but you will need a Power Music Box subscription to use it.
For a small monthly fee is it now easier than ever to transfer your music including all the information such as authors, categories.

You can also upload Playlists. Make sure the songs in the playlists are on the other devices if you are downloading playlists. This feature will be improved in future versions - currently if the song is not on the device it is removed from the playlist when it is downloaded. You can view the contents of each playlist to check first. Future updates will include prompts to upload/download missing songs.

As with all changes to Power Music, we will continue to improve the software and your feedback is very important to us. This new concept is in the early stages and will be further developed over time. New features will also be added to Power Music Box online where you will eventually be able to set up your playlists from your browser.
